随着课程改革的不断深入，校本课程的开发成为了我国基础教育课程改革的重点。校本教材是校本课程发展到一定阶段的产物，是校本课程实施的重要载体。校本教材的开发能丰富校本课程的建设，是实现校本课程教学目的、教学任务的重要环节之一。地域文化蕴含着丰富的教育资源，如今许多学校有意识的将地域文化资源的开发作为校本课程开发的重点，与之相适应校本教材的开发和使用正越来越受到各地学校的关注。本文通过对国内外校本理论的研究，结合现在高中化学教学实际，以地方文化资源为背景，以学生个性发展需要为根本，尝试研究基于吴文化的化学校本教材的开发。具体做了以下几方面的研究与论述：一是通过对苏州市第一中学教师和学生进行的调查，进行教材开发的环境分析，并定位校本教材开发的方向。二是对校本教材开发的内涵、原则、方式等理论的认识和研究。三是阐述了吴文化的内涵及利用吴文化资源开发校本教材的重要性。在此基础上结合高中化学教材内容对吴文化资源进行整理和分析，制定了校本教材的目标，并从吴文化资源中选取适合的内容进行教材编写工作。四是通过课堂教学和说课等多种方式来试用校本教材，由参与听课评课的教师、专家和学生从多方面对教材进行评价并提出修改建议，在此基础上进行多次修改最终定稿。最后阐述了校本教材开发过程中的几点思考。
