polite

than

number

guests

dishes).
If
it
is

business
dinner
or
a
very
formal
occasion,
there
is
likely
to
be
a
huge
amount
of
food
that
will
be
impossible
to
finish.
A
typical
meal
starts
with
some
cold
dishes,
like
boiled
peanuts
and
smashed
cucumber
with
garlic.
These
are
followed
by
the
main
courses,
hot
meat
and
vegetable
dishes.
Finally
soup
is
brought
out,
which
is
followed
by
the
starchy
"staple"
food,
which
is
usually
rice
or
noodles
or
sometimes
dumplings.
Many
Chinese
eat
rice
(or
noodles
or
whatever)
last,
but
if
you
like
to
have
your
rice
together
with
other
dishes,
you
should
say
so
early
on.

Sam: I agree! The culture is also very diverse. In rural area of China, the culture is still ancient and traditional. In urban area such as Shanghai and beijing, culture is more westernized and modern. Although Beijing still has some ancient feel to it.

Lena: Yes, the ingredients are mostly of natural food...diferent dialects makes different kind of food , even the method of cooking is different. if i ever go to china i will definitely try their deliciously juicy dim sum, sui kao, kao zhi, seaweed rolls ...generally anything that has a layer of wrapping is good =)

Ken: Talking about all these food, Chinese cooking styles have been divided into five main regions: Southeastern (Canton), East Coast (Fukien), Northeastern (Peking-Shantung), Central (Honan) and Western (Szechuan-Hunan).

Sam: Yes actually! Cantonese cuisine is famous for its meat roasting and grilling, fried rice, and BIRD'S NEST and SHARK'S FIN SOUP. The province of Fukien is noted for its multitudinous selection of soups and for its seafood dishes. The light, elegant Peking-Shantung style originated the famous PEKING DUCK, and is highly acclaimed for its subtle and artful use of seasonings. China's Honan province is the home of SWEET-AND-SOUR cooking, and the Szechuan-Hunan school is known for its hot, spicy dishes.
