Saving Private Ryan1) The period/event in history the movie is covering:The event being covered in this film is World War Two.The period in history is from the 6th to 13th of June 1944 which is the -2) The main characters involved in the movie/historical event. Captain Miller: I think Captain Miller is the main character because even though the name of the movie is called “Saving Private Ryan” I think this movie is about how the soldiers try to find Private Ryan under the orders of Captain Miller. James Ryan: Private Ryan is the second most important character because the film is all about other soldiers trying to save him and what happened on the way to find him.Hitler: I think Hitler caused the war because, if he wasn’t there, then none of Ryan’s brothers would have died and the soldiers wouldn’t have to look for him.Abraham Lincoln: I put him on the list of main characters because I think Abraham Lincoln is a great example of what the Chief of Staff should do when some families lost too many family members and the Chief of Staff should follow Lincoln’s good example to avoid the same tragedy.Private Ryan’s mother: the Chief of Staff was trying to avoid breaking an old lady’s heart by saving her last son. 3) Three points that are accurate (true) in the movie about the historical period in question.a) This was a tough time and there was a shortage of food so people had to eat whatever they could find. The film showed the soldiers eating food off the ground because they were so hungry.b) The tanks and guns they used were suitable for that time period. So, most of the equipment was typical for that time.c) The friendship between those soldiers was true because if someone was dying others would complete their last wish.

Saving Private Ryan is a film which was directed by Steven Spielberg. The two main charactrs are Captain John Miller,played by Tom Hanks, and private James Ryan,played by Matt Damon.
James Ryan is the fourth brother to be involed in the Second World War.His three brothers has already been killed, two of them in the D-Day landing in Normandy, the other in a battle in another part of the world.Their heart-broken mother receives the news about all her dead sons on the same day.The US army decides to send a groups of men into the French countryside to try to find the fourth brother.Captain Miller, a hero and the surviror of the Omaha Beach battle, is choosen to lead the rescue team of eight men.
The film opens with a 30-minute sequence of the invasion of Normandy, probably the most violent images of war ever shown in a film.We see the full horror of the war,and the chaos and the senseless waste of life.
Saving Private Ryan is an unforgettable anti-war film,and also a story of couerage and sacrifice.Spielberg has made a lot of good films, but he has never made one with such a strong message.And the message is simple---We want peace,we don't want war.
