Kemp is unsympathetic but plays along with Griffin while sending a note to the local constable. The law is after him yet again but he manages to slip away. He is enraged at Dr. Kemps deceit and vows revenge. He assaults Kemps home, breaking all the windows and chopping through a door with an ax bringing the action and the story to its climax.
