Today our school had an opening ceremony in the school auditorium. All the teachers and students as well as some famous scientists and government officials attended. Our principal made a speech. He hoped everybody in our school would work harder and make even more progress in the new term. "Three-good-deed" students were rewarded with prizes. Principal also announced that some honour students received Zhou Peiyuan scholarships because they had won medals in various competitions. A famous scientist then made a speech.He told the students about his learning experience and how he achieve success in his research work. I was so moved by what he said.

English as a lingua franca is crucial language in nowadays world, expecially in China with the developing of ecnomy and the need of communication with people from different countries. Therefore, it is very important for Chinese to learn English not only for their future career, but also the desire of cross-cultural communication.
There are many ways to learn English. Based on my own experience, I think that the best and effective way to learn English is to listen to English news, music and watch English TV programmes and movies which are spoken by native English speakers. It is the good way because they are attractive and interesting as well as making you feel involved at the same time.
Learning English helped me to perceive that there is a language that is so different from Chinese: its pronounciation, syntactic structure, grammar, and even the culture reflected in the language. English gives me a way to understand western culture, espcially America and British. While I also have to mention that learning English is a very nice way to improve your intelligence and the style of your speech!

English is a very important kind of language in the world which is spoken by many people.It's necessary for us to study this common language.Also,learning other language can exchange different ideas with many countries.It's a trend to study english. Learning a language has some ways,too. We should read english at least half an hour every day so we can have a good sense of language.And we must have enough practice to improve our skills of english.Moreover,we need to notice english in our daily life.As a result,we can use english habitually. During my english learning,I learn a lot.We should spend more time on english to have progress.
