Few,A few为不定代词，修饰可数名词。其中few意为not many,not enough即：“很少”、“不多”“几乎没有”表示否定，如：
Few of us speak Russian.
我们当中几乎没有人说俄语。
A few意为some,not many即：“一些”、“不多”，虽少但是有表示肯定。如：
I'm going to buy a few bananas.
我打算去买一些香蕉。
Little,a little作不定代词时，主要修饰不可数名词。其中little意为not much,mot enough即：“不多”、“不够”、“少量”“几乎没有”表示否定。如：
There is little ink in my pen.
我的钢笔没墨水了。
A little意为some,not much即“有一点，但不多”表示肯定。
如:
She knows a little of everything.
她每件事都知道一点。
Little,a little这两个词除了不定代词的用法外，还用作形容词，意为small“小的”。如：a little door小门，a little cat小猫，short“短的”，如：a little time很短的时间；young“年轻的”，如：my little sister我的小妹妹；not important“无关重要的”，如：the little things of life生活中的琐事。
Few,afew,little,a little这四个词作代词的用法，学生在使用时常出现失误，为此，我在教学中为了便于记忆，把这四个词的用法归纳为二句话，即：少者（修饰）可数（名词），多者（修饰）不可数（名词）；少者（表示）否定，多者（表示）肯定。这两句话中的少、多均指单词所含字母的多少。做题时先根据空格后面的主词是可数名词或不可数名词再根据“少者可数，多者不可数”这句话来选择用few a few，或是用little , a little。这样四个答案由第一句话就可以筛去一组，留下一组。留下的一组再分析所给句子的意思是肯定的或是否定的，然后再根据第二句话：“少者否定，多者肯定”，来确定留下的这一组中的两个答案中哪一个是正确的，这样标准答案就确定了。
