other指两者中的"另一个"，即有特定的数量范围，不是人世间的"另一个"。
如：1)He has two rulers. One is new. The other is old.
2)One of peter's sight is better than the other.
彼得的视力一个比另一个好。
3)Where's your other sister?
你还有一个姐姐在哪呢？（肯定是一共有两个姐姐。这里other前用了物主代词your.就不能再用the。）
another 指三个以上中的"再一个"，"另一个"，没有确定的数量范围，是任意的一 个人或物体。
如：4）I have three friends. one is Tom. One is peter. Another is John.
5）May I have another apple, please? 请再给我一个苹果好吗？（肯定已经吃了一个或几个，一共有多少苹果不确定。）
6）This skirt is too big for me. May I have a look at another one? 这件裙子对我来说太小，我再看一件行吗？（商店里肯定有许多裙子。）
