在朗读时，遵循“三步走”原则：
第一步："月份"直接读。
第二步："日"读"the+序（序数词）"。
第三步："年份"闹分家，一般分为两个单位来读，前两个数为一个单位，后两个数为一个单位。
如：1997-nineteen ninety-seven
*如果是三位数，先读第一位，再把后两个数，合起来读。
如：984 年可读为 nine eighty-four
扩展资料日期写法宜遵从下列规则：
1、年份必须完全写明，不可用"04代替2004;
2、月份必须用英文拼出或采用公认的简写（查看往期），不要用数字代替，但 May, June, July, 因为较短，不可缩写。
3、日期可用序数词，如：1st,2nd,3rd,4th,...；也可用基数词，如：1，2，3，4，...。但美式大多采用后者；但最好用基数词，简单明了。
4、在年份和月日之间必须用逗号隔开；
5、日期不可全部采用如7.12.2003或7/12/2003的阿拉伯数字书写，否则会引起误解。因为英美在这方面的习惯用法不同。按美国人习惯，上述日期为2003年7月12日，而按英国习惯则是2003年12月7日。

美国的日期写法是：月/日/年。
英国的日期写法是：日/月/年。
可以确定这个日期是09年，至于是11月8日还是8月11日，就要看这个文本是源自英国还是美国。
如果不能确定来源，可以直接采取英式。因为一般国内的写法都用日/月/年，所以就是09年11月8日。
月份是专有名词，除了少数几个月份外都有缩写形式：
January - Jan。 一月
February - Feb。 二月
March - Mar。 三月
April - Apr。 四月
August - Aug。 八月
September - Sept。 九月
October - Oct。 十月
November - Nov。 十一月
December - Dec。 十二月
注意：缩写形式后面的点不能省略，因为它是表示缩写形式的符号。
日期：用序数词表示
例：十月一日 写作：October 1， October 1st， 1 October， 1st October， （the） 1st of October等，其中的October都可以写成缩写形式Oct。
读作：October the first或the first of October
