大学一定要学英语。大学英语作为公共课，是有学分要求的，达到学分就可毕业。《全日制普通高等学校学生学籍管理办法根据》
第四十六条 学生毕业时作全面鉴定。其内容包括德、智、体三个方面。着重点放在对政治觉悟、思想意识、道德品质以及学习、劳动态度和健康状况等方面，作出评语。肯定成绩，找出差距，明确努力方向，走又红又专的道路。
第四十七条 有正式学籍的学生，德、体合格，学完或提前学完教学计划规定的全部课程，考核及格或修满学分，可准予毕业，并发给毕业证书。
第四十九条 公共体育课重修或限期补考仍不及格者，不准毕业，作结业处理。

《新疆大学普通本、专科学生学籍管理实施细则（试行）》第五十八条，即：自2010级学生开始（含2010级），汉语言学生CET-4级成绩达到355分，学校准予毕业，发给毕业证书；CET-4级成绩达到390.5分，且符合《新疆大学学士学位授予工作实施细则》者授予学士学位。
虽然国家没有相关规定明确英语四六级可以与学生的毕业证、学位证挂钩，但根据国家有关法律规定，学校有权自主办学，在执行国家教学标准基础上，可以在其办学自主权范围内自行制定保障教育教学质量的具体要求，所以，学校在2010年就此做了规定，作为考核学生的一项标准。

（一)真正的本科大学都要学英语。
(二)如果你英语很差的话，就别选英语为专业了，因为这个专业的学生必须过专业四级才给毕业证，而专四比大学英语六级还要难一点儿。而且考它只有两次机会，再不过的话只能通过专八了。
（三）选其他专业，你不过四级最多不给你学位证书，毕业证只要你不挂科，好好学习都可以拿到。不过大英四级挺好过的，到时候多做几套题，多练练应该没问题的。
（四）培养自己的学习兴趣，多看一些美剧，如老友记 啦！挺好看的
(五) 现在的社会，要想有大的有好的发展，学习英语是必须的，除非自己当老板，让英语强的人给自己打工喽！

高等学校的毕业证书由国家教育委员会统一制发。
从 1985 年起，高等学校本科生毕业证书分为两种：一种是普通的毕业证书，发给未获得学士学位的毕业生；另一种为毕业证书与学士学位合一的证书，发给获得学士学位的毕业生。
后者同时标志受教育者所具有的学术水平。
