The plane carrying the Beijing Olympics flame landed in Canberra Wednesday morning for Thursday's torch relay through the heart of the city.

Air China Airbus A330 touched down at Fairbairn Airport about 7.50 a.m. (AEST) from Jakarta.

Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Chief Minister Jon Stanhope, Sports Minister Kate Ellis, President of the Australian Olympic Committee John Coates and Chinese ambassador Zhang Junsai were at the airport to meet the sacred flame.

The Airbus is the official Olympic plane which has been traveling the world with the flame during the torch relay.

The flame lantern was carried off the plane by Jiang Xiaoyu, Vice President of Beijing Organizing Committee of Olympic Games and Chinese ambassador Zhang Junsai.

Indigenous elder Agnes Shea of the Ngunnawal people presented the message stick to the Chinese officials.

"I welcome the Olympic torch to Australia in the spirit of peace on behalf of my people, whose history of this places goes back to the beginning of time," Ms Shea said.

"The words contained within our message stick today are about welcoming our visitors to our country and of the great peace and good fortune for the Beijing Olympic torch relay," Ms Shea continued.

"In this way the torch is the message stick of the Olympic movement. We want the story of the torch while it is Canberra to be one of peace and understanding.

"The torch is after all promoting a journey of harmony, may its stay here be one that symbolizes good will for all mankind."

ACT Chief Minister Stanhope said the next 48 hours were an opportunity to address each other as friends do, with respect and honesty.

"An opportunity to showcase the splendor of this capital city of which we Canberrans are so proud," he said.

"In a robust and mature democracy such as ours there is no particular danger in mixed messages."

Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) president John Coates said the international journey of the flame was the most ambitious and longest route ever planned for an Olympic torch relay.

Coates said both Australian games - Melbourne 1956 and Sydney 2000 - were noted for their efficient organization, the quality of competition and the sense of pervading friendliness.

"In just 107 days, after the flame has completed its awesome journey having covered an impressive 137,000 kilometers, we will see it burning at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

"Australia will be proudly represented by a team of 440 athletes ready to write the next chapter in Australia's rich Olympic history. I can't wait."

Sports Minister Ellis said it was her special duty to welcome the torch and the Chinese guests on behalf of the Australian government.

"Australia has a long tradition not just of participation in the Olympic Games but also a great record of success," she said.

"The Olympic spirit is a good one that I hope burns brightly both today and tomorrow but of course in the Games in Beijing later this year."

Jiang Xiaoyu thanked the Australian hosts and said Australia has held Olympic Games and understand the spirits of the Olympic Games.

The Rabbit and The Wolf’
One day a rabbit was walking near the hill. He heard someone crying,‘Help! Help!’It was a wolf. A big stone was on the wolfs back. He cried, "Mr. Rabbit, take this big stone from my back, or I will die."
The Rabbit moved the stone from the wolfs back. Then the wolf jumped and caught the rabbit.
“If you kill me, I will never help you again.” Cried the rabbit . “Ha,ha!You will not live, because I will kill you." said the wolf.
‘I helped you. How can you kill me? It’s unfair. You ask Mrs. Duck. She will say that you are wrong." said the rabbit. “I will ask her,” said the wolf.
So they went to ask Mrs. Duck. The duck listened to their story and said,” What stone? I must see it. Then I can know who is right. “So the wolf and the rabbit and the duck went to see the stone.
"Now, put the stone back," said Mrs. Duck. So they put the stone back. Now the big stone is on the wolf’s back again.

That’s all for my story. Thanks for listening.

The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.

Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."

A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the dust.

He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."

He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the dust and eat them.

Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse

Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."

The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid.

After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."

A Good Boy

Little Robert asked his mother for two cents. "What did you do with the money I gave you yesterday?"
"I gave it to a poor old woman," he answered.
"You're a good boy," said the mother proudly. "Here are two cents more. But why are you so interested in the old woman?"
"She is the one who sells the candy."

Drunk

One day, a father and his little son were going home. At this age, the boy was interested in all kinds of things and was always asking questions. Now, he asked, "What's the meaning of the word 'Drunk', dad?" "Well, my son," his father replied, "look, there are standing two policemen. If I regard the two policemen as four then I am drunk."
"But, dad," the boy said, " there's only ONE policeman!"

Andy was a little boy. on his first day at school, he learned three words. I, you, and she. The teacher taught him how to make sentences with these words. the teacher said,:"i,i am your teacher.she(pointing to a girl),she is your classmate. you,you are my student." after supper, his dad asked,:"what have you learned at school?" andy said at once:"i,i am yuor teacher .she (pointing to his mom),she is your classmant.you, you are my student."his got very angry and said,:"i,i am your dad. She(poining to his mom)she is yuor mom.you, you are my son." the next morning, the teacher asked andy to make sentences with the three word."ok"he said:"i, i am your dad.she(poining to a girl), she is your mom.you, you aremy son.

Sitting in class, I concentrated on the back of Brian's neck. Evil thoughts filled my mind; I was secretly waiting for his head to explode. It didn't, and I was forced to watch my ex-boyfriend laugh and chat with every per-son in the room while he blatantly ignored me.
After Brian and I broke up, third period became pure torture. While I was still nursing what I considered to be the world's worst broken heart, I was bombarded with the sight of my ex's excessive flirting, as if he we-re proving to me that he was so obviously over his heartache. During class, Brian would gossip loudly about h-is weekend, his latest party and his new car.
Maybe Brian was trying to get back at me for breaking off our six-month relationship. Maybe he thought th-at if he looked happy, it would hurt me more than I had hurt him.
At the end of the relationship, I let him cry on my shoulder but held a strong heart as he begged me not to go. Of course, he covered his pain very well at school, as if our tearful good-bye had never occurred.
Immediately after the breakup, Brian started dating another girl. She was graduating that spring, as if that wre a big feat for a junior-year boy. She took him to the prom and announced it right beside me in math class. I. too. had a date for the prom, but it still hurt. My hurt curdled and turned to anger. It felt like he was trying to upset me, trying to rub his happiness in my face. Every time I saw them together, I wanted to scream. It fe-lt like the pain was going to tear me in half, or a least force me to consider tearing her in half.
School was coming to an end, and I eagerly waited for summer vacation, my savior. No more Algebra two and that gnawing feeling in my stomach each day.
One day in dreaded third period, Brian leaned over to me, and to my surprise, he asked me to sign his yearbook.I must have sat there for a full minute before I got over the shock and said yes.
I thought to my self, "this is my chance. I could really let him have it! I could tell him that I knew what he w-as doing, that he was trying to hunt me, and that it wasn't fair. I could tell him that I saw trough his act, that he and I both knew it was exactly that, an act. But then it hit me, what good would come of that? Would belitt-ling him make me feel better, or would it just perpetuate the pain that we both needed to recover from?
Instead of writing of the pain I had endured, I listed all of the fun times we had shared. I wrote about the first place we had ever kissed, the gifts he had given me, the lessons I had learned---the ones he had taught me, the and the first "I love you" that was whispered between us. It took upone page, and that quickly became two, until my hand was tired of writing. There were still a million more great memories crowding the corners of my mind, and I remembered many more throughout the day. It made me realize the things I learned from him and what graeat experiences we had shared. I finished by telling him I held no hard feelings, and I hoped he f-elt the same.
Maybe what I wrote in his yearbook made me look weak, maybe he thought I was pathetic for still holding onto the memories of our relationship. But writing all those things helped me; it helped me heal the woun-ds that still hurt in my heart. It felt liberating to let go of the grudge; I finally felt free from my anger.
I realized that Brian had taught me one final lesson: forgiveness. Someday when he is fifty and has his own children, he may stumale upon his high school yearbook, and they will ask who stacy was. I hope he can loo-k back and say I was someone who really cared about him, loved him, and most importantly, that I was someone who taught him about forgiveness.
