buy something for some money用多少钱买了sth
eg:I bought the coat for 50 yuan last night.
pay some money for sth为STH付多少钱
eg:I paid 50 yuan for the coat last night.
pay for the computer 是可以的，但是pay the computer for money就不行
pay与pay for的区别为：意思不同、用法不同、侧重点不同。
一、意思不同
1.pay意思：付费;付酬;交纳;偿还;赢利;创收
例句：
The lawyer was paid a huge salary.
那位律师薪酬很高。
2.pay for意思：付开销;赔偿(损失);(为某种过失)付出代价;吃亏
例句：
Using a credit card to pay for an order is simplicity itself.
用信用卡支付订单再简单不过了。
二、用法不同
1.pay用法：作及物动词，也可用作不及物动词。用作不及物动词时，多作“合算，值得”解; 用作及物动词时，其搭配范围比较窄，主语只能是人，宾语常是人、钱或账单，而不能是其他物品，如果其客体是物品，则须用for引导。可用于被动结构。
2.pay for用法：基本意思是“付给”“付出”，指某人买东西或做某事所花费的金钱。引申可表示为“给予”。
三、侧重点不同
1.pay侧重点：表示一种行为动作的词，经常使用在交易场合。
2.pay for侧重点：pay与介词for组成词组，侧重于为什么付款。

v:1.He paid 5 yuan for the book.=He spent 5 yuan on the book.
=He spent 5 yuan (in)buying /getting the book.
=The book cost him 5 yuan.他买这本书花了5元钱。

3.The boss paid him 50 yuan for the work.
因为这个工作，老板付给他50元。
