How I become a good student
At school, almost everyone wants to be a good student. But we differ greatly from one another in what we should do to become a good student. So it is really important for us to speak out our own idea about it.
Kind, helpful, understanding, patient, and loving are some of the words that come to my mind when asked to list the qualities of a good student.
In order to be a good student, I think, I should be hard-working. I should listen carefully in class, and be active in group work, whether it’s discussion or turning in a presentation. I am expected to complete my homework carefully and on time.
Next I should be polite to my teachers, classmates and parents. With their help or support, I feel sure and happy in my daily life.
Third, it’s necessary for me to have good habits, such as organizing things well, learning to exercise, eating a healthy diet and being a regular reader.
“争取做一名好学生”作文的核心是什么呢？就是针对自己目前的状况，要反复思考，要打开思路，再加上有足够的语言表述，写作就会成为一种自我表达的乐事。譬如说，从社会的角度讲，一个学生没有偷盗（stealing），不讲粗话（badmouthing），远离说谎（lying），基本上是个好孩子了。我们可以这样写：
As long as we avoid doing the things we know are bad, such as stealing, badmouthing, lying, etc., then we're a good person. But I think there's more to it than that. By avoiding bad behavior, we've made a big step towards becoming a good person, but you've only just begun. In order to be good, we actually have to do good things rather than just avoid doing bad things. As a good citizen，we should be responsible for everything we do, for our nation and our people.
就学校而言，大部分学生都想当好学生，但是怎么做都做不好。其实，当好学生很简单，只要上课表现好一点，成绩可以退一步再说，千万别影响老师上课就行了。根据自己的成绩尽力而为，不要产生压力，面对学习感到快乐就可以了。请参考下列关于好学生的一些提法：
初二、初三的同学可以说的内容多一些，更贴近自己的个性。例如：
Be organized. Buy a binder. Buy a pencil case and put all your supplies in there. Make sure your locker is clean. Use your student handbook to mark events, homework or big projects.
Dress Nicely. It shows respect. Don't wear clothes that are too small or too big.
Pay attention at all times and be prepared in class. Make sure you have done your homework and take notes. Show that you are a willing participant and that you are eager to learn.
Do not procrastinate. Leaving until later what could be done today is asking for trouble and crammed results. If a report is due by Monday and you've had three weeks to do it, don't wait until Sunday.
Participate in class discussions. When you have something to share, raise your hand.
Work ahead of the class work. Read further than the chapter in class. If you want to take the lead in your class you need to work hard!
Do your homework. Do homework consistently and methodically. Make sure that you proofread and double check your spelling and facts.
Prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes and everything else in between. Fill out the study guides if they are supplied, or make your own guides.
Get yourself in a good habit of waking up a little earlier. This will allow you to have a good breakfast so you can learn better. Feeling refreshed and awake are perfect studying conditions.
Study in a quiet, non-distracting environment. Distractions during study time will make your studying less effective. This includes TV, people talking, the radio, some music etc. - anything that is taking your mind off the task at hand.
Repeat newly registered information quietly out loud. This will enable you to remember it more easily.
Remain calm during tests. Breathe deep breaths when the test is being handed out and keep a calm and focused approach as you go through the questions. If you have studied well, you will know the answers, so don't panic.
Skip the hard parts of a test. In a test, if you are some times struggling with a particular question, skip it and continue with the next ones that you can easily answer. . After you have finished all the questions that you are certain about, return to finish the difficult ones. Use the process of elimination on questions where you are not sure, and guess when you can't logically narrow it down any further.
Help new students find their way around, and be a friend to them. If you see someone being mean to a newbie, stand up for them. Get yourself known as a great friend and helpful person and people will respect you. Besides, if they can rely on you to help them, chances are you can rely on them when you need help.
Join clubs and extra-curricular activities such as the school sports teams, drama clubs and other things that might put on performances for the local community, or have competitions against other schools.
Run for class president/school council or something like that. Even if you think it's geeky, have a go! You might actually make it cool!

If you are asked to do group work,
whether its discussion or turning in a presentation, be a good group member. Bring your ideas and your feedback to the table. Be serious about the assignment.
"I'm so bad at this stuff; you guys can handle it. Your ideas are way better than mine," is not being modest; it's being lazy.
And in the case of an assignment, you are making your group members do all the work!
But dominating a group and not allowing everyone to contribute ideas is just as bad. Even if you don't like someone else's ideas, you may need to compromise and go along with it, because group work is supposed to be a group effort.
Be prepared by taking good notes. What if you never taken notes before and you're not sure how? The only answer is to practice. Learning how to listen for and write down important information comes from the experience of actually doing it. You should be taking notes every time your teacher lectures and then storing them in a safe place. Refer to your notes just after leaving class; this way your mind will still be fresh.
Start working on an assignment as soon as possible. Time goes by faster than you expect it to, and we can't always foresee incidents that will get in the way of our homework. Also, if you plan to get an A on your assignment, you will probably need to spend hours working on it. A lot of people aren't willing to do the work required to get an A. Others are.

Learn from your mistakes. That means if your teacher writes, "Use better grammar" than you should study grammar. If your teacher says, "Excellent! But I feel your conclusion is a little weak,"

a test, that should be a wake-up call to you. If you procrastinate so long that you are not ready with your project, and it turns into a humiliating experience, you need to ask yourself, "What went wrong? Why did I fail, and how could I do it better next time?" Go to your teacher and ask for feedback if you need more clarification.
Get the phone numbers of at least two other class members. That way, if you miss a class, you can call to find out what you missed. Remember, it is your responsibility to know the information that your teacher presents and that is covered in the book. Don't expect a teacher to regive a lecture that they already gave in class.
Having to study doesn't mean that you will be in four walls with your desk full of books, get out sometimes and have some fun, learn to combine both things.
Be nice to everyone. Listen when they talk - don't dominate conversations by going on and on about yourself. If someone loks upset and is on their own, go and check on them. Invite them to hang out with you. If someone is sat alone at lunch, invite them to sit with you, or go to sit with them.
Some people are just genuinly nasty, and they are NOT good friends. If they're on their own because they have no friends, chat to them, invite them to go shopping with your friends or to a movie. Ask questions about them: remember, almost everyone's favourite topic is themselves. This follows on from the ealier step of helping new students: people will feel like they belong, and they'll feel happier and more comfortable in front of people, rather than a sad little loner. You may also find some great new friends, or even a BFF（Best Friend Forever）.
Concentration follows eagerness. This section provides you with the basics of "Concentration" and also provides you with advice as to how to get aroused with concentration.
You need to pay attention in class. Don't start chatting with your peers/friends when the teacher turns their back to you. Even better; don't associate with distracting people. You should realize that the people in your class play an important role in how everybody progresses. However, if you are a good student you will do better and achieve your goals. Your friends will be there for you at that time, if they are trustful and of a good reputation. At home, study and do your homework in a place that doesn't make you sleep. It is advisable to have a dedicated study table or desk. Don't do your study work on the bed or in front of the t.v/radio/stereo etc. That would be pointless because you are meant to be thinking about your studies.
If you feel distracted, take a short break of 15 minutes or less, maybe try to read an unrelated story book. But don't start sticking to the book if the time limit is over. Book mark the page and then you can read it later on. You should also have a daily routine/timetable to guide you, but you must follow it through. Don't have regular fights at school; this will move your attention to fighting rather than listening to what your teacher says! Believe me, these are all important guidelines. Remember, study well now, and you can have fun after you achieve your goal - guaranteed!
One of the main things that decides a person's or child's future is their behavior. Learning textbooks and achieving 100% is not enough. People should think that you are the only all-rounder that has good manners. Obey your elders, don't bully your classmates at school. Remember, try imagining yourself in the other person's situation, and you'll know how much you hurt them with your actions. Say hello to your teachers and schoolmates when you see them, people will appreciate your friendliness and be friendly in return.
Above all, try helping your friends in any situation and you'll be remembered as one of the best friends at school! Don't just do it for a good reputation, but for a good future and for yourself. You should also know that words from your mouth are enough to break relationships (or worse) so don't utter foul, discouraging, or insulting words.
Don't take this as a lecture, but as a guideline! Behaviour should be first and then comes academics. Even if you aren't good at school, you'll be famous for your behaviour, and good friends are truly worth more than gold.
This is one of the many questions that children ask their teachers, "Ma'am, I can't study!". Let's ponder on these things : Are you devoted to studying? Are you just studying for your parents? Are you just cheating in exams for getting good grades and marks? The list goes on.
First of all, as mentioned above, study somewhere that has a basic study table. Don't study or read in dim light. If you become bored on learning one subject, study something else that interests you a lot. You must always find alternatives as you go!
We all know the saying,"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Yes, studying all night and not playing just stresses you on work and you'll forget everything the next morning. Play out for about 2 hours or so. It will be pleasant if you go out to play around in the evening, say 5 pm in the evening. This energizes you and gives you extra strength for everything you do.
Make a timetable. And that is all what this section is about. Arrange a time-table with the subjects that are tough for you in the first column. Then put a break column after every 2 subjects so you don't get strained. Of all, try getting a good sleep. Children are supposed to get 8 - 10 hours sleep. If you don't get enough sleep, that will result in sleepy studying and nothing will get inside your head.
Study on each subject for about 1 hour. You'll get refreshed. Also have a snack in between.
Apart from improving yourself, try spreading your skills among others. This is the section that provides you with all the things necessary in sharing your skills. Co-operation is helping each other out so everyone benefits, it's the opposite of competing, where everyone wants to win for themselves. Most learning is done with the help of others, so learning to cooperate is a valuable skill for anyone. Study partners are a wonderful tool. They save time and they help reinforce what you have learned. Divide a reading assignment in half. Study your section using any and all notetaking strategies you have(ie: venn diagrams, outlines, notecards, coloured highlighters etc) When you both have an understanding of your readings, take turns 'teaching/explaining' it to the other person. As you adjust your explanation to your partner, you will reinforce the concept for yourself. It works because as you think about how to explain the topic, you must understand it first!
Above all, you need confidence! For that, we need to feel that we are working for ourselves and not for others! Good luck!
