There was a little boy with a bad temper。His father gave him some nails to drive into the back fence when he lost his temper. The first day the boy drove 37 nails into the fence. Then it began to become less. He found it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at a11.He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy should now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said,“You have done well. my son, but look at the fence. It will never be the same. When you say things in anger,they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry. the woundis still there. A verbalwound is as bad as a physicalone.
故事是讲述: 有一个男孩有著很坏的脾气,于是他的父亲就给了他一袋钉子并且告诉他,每当他发脾气的时候就钉一根钉子在后院的围篱下。
第一天,这个男孩钉下了三十七根钉子。慢慢地每天钉下的数量减少了。他发现控制自己的脾气要比钉下那些钉子来得容易些。终于有一天,这个男孩再也不会失去耐性乱发脾气。
他告诉他的父亲这件事,父亲告诉他,现在开始每当他能控制自己的脾气的时候,就拔出一根钉子。
一天天地过去了,最后男孩告诉他的父亲,他终于把所有钉子都拔出来了。
父亲握著他的手来到后院:「你做得很好,我的好孩子,但是看看那些围篱上的洞。这些围篱将永远不能回复成从前的样子。你生气的时候说的话将像这些钉子一样留下疤痕。如果你拿刀子捅别人一刀,不管你说了多少次对不起,那个伤口将永远存在。话语的伤痛就像真实的伤痛一样令人无法承受。

　　　大屁股学英文，最烦她用中文先起好稿，然后再对应着去查英语，中国的语法英国的单词，凑成的奇文让人狂汗。为此讽刺挖苦她多次，就是难改。
　　我告诉她，英语其实很简单，尽量用你学过的词和句法，去表达意思，千万别用中文去套，一套就生硬，中文没拽好，英文看不懂，两头失败。人家英国人头脑没俺们这么多弯弯绕，笔头写的就是口头说的，不用拽文。贬得多了，最近好像有些长进。
　　手头正编辑大家小集丛书中的《林语堂集》，里面有一篇“怎样把英文学好”，所见居然略同。拉着老林的手，两眼哗哗的，啥也别说了，就把他老人家列举的好英文写出来让大屁股瞅瞅，汗死她：

　　I take off my hat to him. 我五体投地地佩服他。
　　（我让大屁股用英文说，居然没难倒她：I put down my five bodies to him. 我倒。）

　　Forget about it. 算了。

　　Not a chance. 绝不会。

　　You are telling me. 我还得等你说？

　　最好的是下面这段：

　　是邱吉尔二战时说的著名的名言，多么简单明了，没有一个生僻的词；多么矫健有力，没有复杂的句型。什么是好英文，还用问么？

第一篇我介绍英国散文史祖培根的 《论读书》， 这绝对是经典中的经典，有一点难，但是有中文应该还可以理解。
“Of Studies”英文原版：
Of Studies is writen by Francis Bacon
Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability. Their chief use for delight, is in privateness and retiring; for ornament, is in discourse; and for ability, is in the judgment and disposition of business.
For expert and execute, and perhaps judge of particulars, one by one; but the general counsels, and the plots and marshalling of affairs, come best form those that are learned.
To spend too much time in studies is sloth; to use them too much for ornament, is affectation; to make judgement wholly by their rules, is the humour of a scholar.
They perfect nature, and are perfected by experience: for natural abilities are like natural plants, that need proyning (pruning) by study; and studies themselves do give forth directions too much at large, except they be bounded in/ by experience.
Crafty men contemn studies, simple men admire them, and wise men use them; for they teach not their own use; but that is a wisdom without them, and above them, won by observation.
Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider.
Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested; that is, some books are to be read only in parts; others to be read, but not curiously; and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.
Some books also may be read by deputy, and extracts made of them by others; but that would be only in the less important arguments, and the meaner sort of books; else distilled books are, like common distilled waters, flashy things.
Reading maketh a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man. And therefore, if a man write little, he had need have a great memory; if he confer little, he had need have a present wit; and if he read little, he had need have much cunning, to seem to know that he doth not.

So if a man's wit be wandering, let him study the mathematics; for in demonstrations, if his wit be called away never so little, he must begin again. If his wit be not apt to distinguish or find differences, let him study the schoolmen; for they are cymini sectores. 读书可以作为消遣，可以作为装饰，也可以增长才干。孤独寂寞时，阅读可以消遣。高谈阔论时，知识可供装饰。处世行事时，知识意味着才干。
懂得事务因果的人是幸运的。有实际经验的人虽能够处理个别性的事务，但若要综观整体，运筹全局，却唯有学识方能办到。读书太慢的人驰惰，为装潢而读书是欺人，完全按照书本做事就是呆子。求知可以改进人性，而经验又可以改进知识本身。人的天性犹如野生的花草，求知学习好比修剪移栽。学问虽能指引方向，但往往流于浅泛，必须依靠经验才能扎下根基。

书籍好比食品。有些只须浅尝，有些可以吞咽，只有少数需要仔细咀嚼，慢慢品味。所以，有的书只要读其中一部分，有的书只须知其梗概，而对于少数好书，则应当通读，细读，反复读。有的书可以请人代读，然后看他的笔记摘要就行了。但这只应限于不太重要的议论和质量粗劣的书。否则一本书将像已被蒸馏过的水，变得淡而无味了。
读书使人充实，讨论使人机敏，写作则能使人精确。因此，如果有人不读书又想冒充博学多知，他就必须很狡黠，才能掩人耳目。如果一个懒于动笔，他的记忆力就必须强而可靠。如果一个人要孤独探索，他的头脑就必须格外锐利。
读史使人明智，读诗使人聪慧，学习数学使人精密，物理学使人深刻，伦理学使人高尚，逻辑修辞使人善辩。总之，"知识能塑造人的性格"。不仅如此，精神上的各种缺陷，都可以通过求知来改善——正如身体上的缺陷，可能通过适当的运动来改善一样。例如打球有利于腰背，射箭可扩胸利肺，散步则有助于消化，骑术使人反应敏捷，等等。同样道理，一个思维不集中的人，他可以研习数学，因为数学稍不仔细就会出错。缺乏分析判断的人，他可以研习而上学，因为这门学问最讲究细琐的辩证。不善于推理的人，可以研习法律案例。如此等等。这种心灵上的缺陷，都可以通过学习而得到改善

第二篇也是很经典的是塞缪尔·约翰逊的《致切斯特菲尔德伯爵书
》这是一篇很讽刺的作品，讲的是切斯特菲尔德伯爵当年拒绝了帮助塞缪尔·约翰逊出版后者的字典，后来塞缪尔·约翰逊通过自己的努力终于将他传世的字典付梓。就在这时，切斯特菲尔德伯爵无耻地写信给他要求自己成为这本字典的出版者，于是塞缪尔·约翰逊就写了这封经典的讽刺信表达对伯爵无耻行为的厌恶和憎恨。

Is not a patrons my lord, one who looks with unconcern on a man struggling for life in the water, and, when he has reached ground, encumbers him with help? 我再介绍一篇比较短的是英国女作家伍尔夫的<About reading books>这篇文章很短,文章主要是讲要怎么读好书的，像这种和学习比较贴近的文章的读后感我想会比较好写。
About reading books
It is simple enough to say that since books have classes fiction, biography, poetry—we should separate them and take from each what it is right that each should give us.Yet few people ask from books what books can give us. Most commonly we come to books with blurred and divided minds, asking of fiction that it shall be true, of poetry that it shall be false, of biography that it shall be flattering, of history that it shall enforce our own prejudices. If we could banish all such preconceptions when we read, that would be an admirable beginning. Do not dictate to your author; try to become him. Be his fellow-worker and accomplice. If you hang back, and reserve and criticize at first, you are preventing yourself from getting the fullest possible value from what you read. But if you open your mind as widely as possible, then signs and hints of almost imperceptible fineness, from the twist and turn of the first sentences, will bring you into the presence of a human being unlike any other. Steep yourself in this, acquaint yourself with this, and soon you will find that your author is giving you, or attempting to give you, something far more definite.

I want to know
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain!
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.

I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every day, and if you can source your life from god’s presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”
It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for the children.
It doesn’t interest me who you are, how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself, and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Clear Your Mental Space 净化你的思续
Think about the last time you felt a negative emotion: like stress, anger, or frustration. Were you able to think as you were going through that negativity? Today let me show you a simple but effective exercise to deal with a negative emotion.
想一想上一次你情绪消沉时的情景：压力，愤怒，或是受挫。当被这些消极情绪占据的时候，你是否还能正常地思考呢？今天，想给大家介绍一种对付消极情绪的简单而又有效的方法。
The next time you find yourself in the middle of a very stressful time, or you feel angry or frustrated, stop！Whatever you're doing, stop and sit for one minute. While you're sitting there, completely immerse yourself in the negative emotion.
下一次，当你正处于极端的压力之下，感觉愤怒或受挫时，马上停止你正在做的任何事情！不论你正在做什么，都暂时停下来，静坐一分钟。当你静坐时，请允许你自己完完全全地去感受这种消极的情绪。
Allow that emotion to consume you. Allow yourself one minute to truly feel that emotion. Take the entire minute, but only one minute, to do nothing else but feel that emotion.

By allowing that negative emotion the space to be truly felt, you are dealing with the emotion rather than stuffing it down and trying not to feel it. When you immerse yourself in the emotion, and realize that it is only emotion, it loses its control. You can clear your head and proceed with your task.
