我最喜欢的一本书是Design of designs，虽然它的作者是个平面设计师，而我本专业是环艺设计，但我认为设计都是相通的。这本书给了我一种新的思考方式。一般认为，设计必须不断更新，否则会被时代淘汰。于是一些设计师着眼未来，想要不断创造新的设计作品。
The book I like most is the “Design of designs”. Although the author is a graphic designer, and I majored in environmental art design, I think all designs are the same. This book impressed me with a new way of thinking. It is generally believed that designs must be constantly updated; or they will die out with time. Therefore some designers focus on the future and make efforts in continual creation of new design works.
而本书的作者认为，我们要做的不是摒弃过去一味向前，而是将过去的或者人们正在使用的物品进行再一次的设计，思考这些物品经过这么多年、这么多人的使用后，它们有哪些方面值得我们进行再一次设计，以使它重新、更好的服务于人们的生活。
But in the opinion of the author, what we should do is not to abandon the past and head forward blindly, but to redesign the things designed before or still in use, and to think (find out) what in them is worth us to design it once again after being in use for so many years and by so many people, in order to make it serve people’s life once again and even better.
所以，我觉得这本书教给我的远远超过设计技巧（？）、设计历史这一类的书。
In my opinion therefore, what the book taught me is far more than that of the books on design skills (?), design history and the like.
I was born in the rural area. Back home girls my age, in the mid 20s, should be getting ready to get married. But that has nothing to do with me, I have a desire to acquire more knowledge. Because I feel inadequate about myself, and I am convinced that I can be better. I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Liang Si Cheng, whom I consider the founding father of Chinese Architectural Design. Yet, my favorite architect is Mr. Wang Shu。 He once criticized Mr. Liang during an interview, saying that he led the Chinese architecture in a wrong direction. His criticism shocked me, I've never ever doubted a master such as Mr. Liang, and I do not like to cast any subjective judgment blindly and without a reason. Therefore, I feel that there is still a lot that I must learn, I hope to improve myself through further studies in the graduate program.
1. Why am I apply for postgraduate
I was born in countryside, where girls over 20 years like me are ready to get married. But it is not for me. I want to get more study since I suppose I could do better to make up my lack of knowledge. I admire Mr. Liang Sicheng, supposed as founder of China's architectural design. While the best architect I like is Mr. Wang Shu. He criticized in an interview that Mr. Liang led China's architectural design into a wrong direction. I was shocked by his words because I have never been doubt of famous architect like Mr. Liang. And I don't want to judge blindly, subjectively or unfounded. So I need more study and would like to improve myself through postgraduate.
1. Reason to attend graduate school
I was born in the countryside where girls like me at the age of 20 or more shall be ready to get married. But such thing has nothing to do with me. All I want is to keep study and learn more as I believe that I still have many shortcomings and I can be better. I quite admire Mr. Sichen Liang who is the well-recognized founder of Chinese architecture design, meanwhile my favorite design comes from Shu Wang. During one interview, he critised Mr. Sichen Liang, saying he misled the development direction of Chinese architecture design. His criticism shocked me greatly as I never doubted a master like Mr. Liang ever, besides I won't make any subjective judgement blindly with no reason. So I am convinced that I still have a lot to learn and through attending the graduate school, I can further improve myself.
