　　Whet Mom wrote to thank me for her "real" gifts, she said the yellow shirt was lovely. She never mentioned it again.
　　The next year, my husband, daughter and I stopped at Mom and Dad's to pick up some furniture. Days later, when we uncrated7 the kitchen table, I noticed something yellow tied to its bottom. The shirt! And so the pattern was set.
　　On our next visit home, I secretly placed the shirt under Mom and Dad's mattress. I don't know how long it took her to find it, but almost two years passed before I discovered it under the base of our living-for m floor lamp. The yellow shirt was just what I needed now while ref nishing furniture. The walnut stains added character.
　　In 1975 my busband and I divorced. With my three children, I prepared to move back to Illinois. As I packed, a deep depression overtook me. I wondered if I could make it on my own. I have a very funny dog. It was a present from my father on my tenth birthday.

It has a pair of crystal big eyes and a cherry mouth, plus a pair of round nostrils, very lovely. The puppys nose is puffy and its bark is very pleasant. Its fur is soft and feels comfortable. When I was a child, it looked like a calf, so I gave it a nice name - "niu niu".

Niu nius favorite is vegetable soup mixed rice, its appetite is very big, a meal can eat a big bowl. Every time he ate it, he would bark a little, as if to say, "thank you, little master."

I remember once, my father and my mother went to visit my aunt in changchun, only my grandma and I were at home.

At night, the north wind was blowing, and outside, I was afraid. All of a sudden, out came the sound of "wang wang", niu niu as if to say: "little master, dont be afraid, have me to stand guard." 晚上，北风刮着，外面我很害怕。突然，传来了“汪汪”的声音，妞妞好像在说：“小师傅，不要害怕，让我站岗。”我不相信地问：“牛，你能行吗？”妞点点头，好像在回答：“别担心，我能行！”我听了这句话就松了一口气，睡着了。

妞妞是我父亲送给我的珍贵礼物，他走进了我的生活，成为了我形影不离的朋友。

The most precious gift that I have ever received is from my father. My father is an engineer who works abroad. I can seldom see him because he only come back home twice a year. He always comes back at Spring Festival to stay with us for a very short period of time. I really cherish the time I can stay with my father. Last year, my father gave me a surprise when he came back from abroad. He gave me a book as my birthday present. I know some people may think that a book is cheap and it is the most valuable thing for me. The book is Harry Potter written by J.K Rowling. More surprisingly, the book is written in English. I read the book at that time although my English was not very good. I also checked dictionary when I met some unfamiliar words. With in three months, I finished the book and my English improved a lot. I also learnt from Harry Potter to be independent and brave. I think my father wants to teach me to be independent when he is not around me. And he also wants me to be brave enough to face any challenge I will encounter in the future.
