Helping Others Can Help you
Volunteering has a meaningful, positive effect on your community. But did you know that it can have many benefits for you, too?
To begin with, volunteering enables you to gain some valuable life experience as well as work skills, which I think lays a solid foundation for your future study or career. In the meantime, by volunteering, you can make friends with people from all walks of life, from whom you can obtain useful knowledge that can’t be learnt at school. In addition, volunteering provides you with a good opportunity to give back to society and break down barriers of understanding, thus a harmonious society can be created.
As far as I’m concerned, volunteering is a good way for us to build self-esteem and self-confidence, too. Also, when offering others help, we ourselves will have a sense of satisfaction. Therefore, volunteering is of great benefit not only to others but also to ourselves.
2010年9月参加了一个成人教育的志愿者培训。当时参加了非洲国际志愿者培训。在国内培训了一年之后，学校有机会去非洲做志愿者。我去了非洲赞比亚做了半年志愿者。
今年3月刚回国。
感觉，收获很大。让我的沟通能力，管理能力，语言能力，自我成长方面都有很大的提高。个人也变得更加有自信了。参加培训之后，才真正知道什么叫做助人自助的道理。
在非洲做志愿者期间，有很多的感动，也有很多的震撼。觉得是我人生的一个很好的经验。做任何事的心态也好了很多。
回国后，云南干旱，也参加了抗旱活动。在云南的很多农村里看到各个不同名族的小学生，每天都让我觉得，他们是非常坚强，并且勇敢的。
如果你有想要参加志愿者活动的打算，那就去吧！很值得去做这件事。
