if和whether的区别和用法：
1、if作为从属连词，引导条件状语从句，意思为“如果”。特别注意if引导的条件状语从句用一般现在时，主句用一般将来时，即“主将从现”。

如果明天不下雨，我们就去野餐。
2、if/whether都可以引导宾语从句，意思为“是否”，引导词在从句中具有实际意义(是否)，但不做任何成分，所以不能省略。它是由一般疑问句转化而来的表示不肯定的语气。
If用法
1、if作为从属连词,可引导条件状语从句、让步状语从句和名词从句。
2、if引导条件状语从句，从句可为真实条件从句,也可为虚拟条件从句。
3、if引导的条件从句中可以省略be和主语。
4、if引导的条件从句，有时后接only以加强其语气，表示说话人非常盼望某人提出的条件能够实现。
5、if可引导让步状语从句，作“虽然,即使”解,常和even连用。
6、if可引导名词性从句，作“是否”解，常放在ask,doubt,know,learn,see,wonder等动词后。一般用在口语中，而且不能用于句首。

一、if或whether引导宾语从句时，作“是否”讲，常放在动词ask
、see
、say
、know和find
out等后面。一般情况下，两者常可换用，在口语中多用if。
二、if或whether引导宾语从句时，要注意三个方面，即连词、语序和时态。

或其它连词（副词）同时使用，也不能省去。
