Jules is 27 year's old, but he acts like a child. He doesn't know how to raise and educate his child(Because he is a child,too). He usually takes drugs and smokes, and can not be a good example.
I believe that he need to change himself completely, learn to be a good father, and provide Baby a stable living environment.

They move about and live a poor life, which i believe will greatly influence Baby's self-respect and self-knowledge.
First, I think, Jules is usually out leaving Baby alone, which makes Baby lonely because nobody is with her.
Baby doesn't go to school like other children and doesn't know herself at all, because they move about and nobody teaches her.

The author wrote the novel in the first person, which makes Baby's experience more lively to me.
when reading this book, I had the same feelings with Baby, because I could feel Baby's experience which was not my own, though.
Her sufferings make me love this twelve years old girl, who lives in an unstable environment with no love.

I believe, that Jules is fully responsible for her. Baby does all these risky things in order to attract Jules's attention, because Jules always leaves her alone. She just takes drugs to fill the emptiness inside. She is right because what she needs is Jules's love.
If Jules could have been a good father and loved her, giving her a stable life, Baby would have not been so risky.
In “the film club” the author employs a special technique to vividly highlight the generation gap, viz. through “dialogues” between the son and the father. In this technique we see that Jesse’s father uses watching a movie as an opportunity to understand his son. The questions he asks Jesse about the movie makes him see that the boy (in the movie) is so much like himself.
On the other hand, in “the Journey to Ompah” the author uses the techniques of “dialogue”, “conflict” and “tone”, and, through conversations among the grandfather, the father and Michael, portray how the generation gap comes to being.
The latter article is much broader in scope. Thus I like it better than the first article, for it has more content, and uses more techniques, and I am able to appreciate it a lot more.
Compared to the first article, “The journey to Ompah” describes family situations which are more familiar to me; the writing is insightful and enlightening. Generation gap arises from differences in value concepts between the generations. If the grandfather had not been violent or insulting toward his son, the generation gap might not have arisen.
On this island, it is ok for one man to have more than wife. and also acceptable is the marriage of one person to another of the same sex.
