Helen was a pregnant woman who was accustomed to smoking and became addicted to cigarettes.Last weekend,Before helen’s husband going business,he told helen not to go stairs alone.But she didn't follow his words.when she went upstairs,she was tough to reach the last stage and felt breathless.She was desperate to call her husband back,and she felt stressful about her baby.Finally,her kind neighbor came and sent her to the hospital immediately.After knowing bad news that her baby was abnormal,she was disappointed and felt ashamed of herself.

有一次，他的父亲坐着他们兄弟三人拉的车子外出办事。那天，寒风瑟瑟，冰冻三尺，闵子骞的棉衣不能御寒，冻得浑身发抖，面色灰白，嘴唇都变成青紫色。而他的两个弟弟因为拉车赶路，面色红润，脸上直冒热汗。闵子骞父亲看见他瑟瑟发抖，两个弟弟却满头大汗，就断定一定是闵子骞偷懒，不肯卖力拉车。于是，一怒之下就用鞭子狠狠地抽打他。鞭子抽破了棉衣，芦花飞了出来。他的父亲拾起来一看，才恍然大悟。原来儿子在受冻啊！
“回家！哪儿也不去了！”父亲命令儿子调转车头往回走。一进门，父亲不顾后妻的磕头求饶，执意要将她休掉。
闵子骞一见，“扑通”一声跪在地上，哀求父亲说：“母亲在家，就我一个人受寒，母亲要是走了，我们兄弟三人都要受冻，望父亲大人三思啊！父亲见儿子的话说得婉转而近情理，便无奈地打消了休妻的念头。继母见子骞以德报怨，既往不咎，很受感动，从此对三个儿子一样对待。子骞长大后，孝名闻于天下。
