听完父亲的这番话，我顿时明白了原来每个人都会有自己的弱点，每个人都需要发现自己的优点，正视自己的缺点，这样才能使原来并不出色的自己闪耀出光芒。于是我也开始努力起来，肯定了自己的能力。在后来的一次考试中，班里许多同学都退步了，而我却进步了十多名。
从那时起，我相信自己只要在多用功些，把平时娱乐的时间分担多一些给学习，也一定能获得更好的成绩的。现在我的成绩已经在班里名列前茅了。
每个人都应该相信自己，即使你不是金子，即使你不会发光，但你总有你的功用。所以，当你千万次为别人鼓响双掌的时候，也请你为自己鼓掌，无论你是否是太阳，此刻也请你与日月争辉，时刻牢记，使自己从煤炭变为金刚石的不是那熊熊的烈火，而是那颗坚信自己本身就是金刚石的心。
