您好，avoid doing sth. 和 avoid sth. 都是对的，因为 avoid 是（及物动词），后面直接接（宾语），而（宾语）可以是一般的（名词），也可以是（动名词/动名词词组），因为（动名词/动名词词组）具有（名词）的特征。所以 doing sth 就是（动名词词组）。比如：
1）... avoid the dog（直接接名词）
2）... avoid swimming（直接接动名词）
3）... avoid seeing him（直接接动名词词组）
这3种都是没有问题的。
