Most countries have abolished the death penalty altogether; most others use it rarely if ever; and a clear majority have supported a UN Resolution against the death penalty in each of the last three years (in 2010 the majority was 109 vs 41). However, a few - including China, the USA, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan - still regularly put people to death.

Most supporters of the death penalty believe that it is justified one or more of the following grounds: (i) as a means of retribution (ie they should die because they deserve to die); (ii) as a deterrent to others; (iii) to prevent any danger of re-offending; (iv) because it's cheaper than keeping people in prison.

Opponents object to the death penalty on one or more of the following grounds: (i) killing someone is always wrong, and two wrongs can never make a right; (ii) there is in fact no evidence of a deterrent effect; (iii) life without parole is just as effective a way to prevent someone reoffending as executing them; (iv) saving money can never be a justification for taking someone's life; and finally, (v) mistakes are bound to happen, and that means people being put to death for a crime they didn't commit (imagine if that were you or someone you loved).

Today, i experienced the most irritating traffic jam ever in my life. My father was driving me to watch a movie with my friends from high school, who I have not seen since graduation. I was hoping to have a wonderful re-union with them. However, our car was stuck in the middle of **** road because two drivers were fighting and their cars blocked the way. No one was able to persuade them to quit quarreling. I could not stand the situation anymore: I stepped out the car and disputed with those two men. It did not work out the way I had expected. The voices of the two men were so loud that even local policeman had to drive by. The policeman calmed down the two drivers and strived his best to dissolve the situation. With such exertions, the policeman finally made the road clean and the traffic started to move on afterward. As a result of one hour traffic jam, I missed the entire movie and apologized to my friends.

I like the summer holiday every year. This summer I went to Beijing for my holiday, Beijing is our capital city. I went to the Summer Palace, climbed the Great Wall and went to many places of interest. I had a very good time. During this summer holiday, I went to Putuo and Xiangshan. I saw the beautiful sea. In our country, the word "unemployment" was seldom heard seweral years ago. But now, more and more people around us have lost their jobs. Many young people, including lots of college graduates, are fired or have to stay at home. Obviously, unemployment is becoming a serious social problem.
What on earth is the reason for such a situation? On one hand, it is because of the conomic condition. Recently, our country, has undergone great economic reforms. In order to improve the efficiency, many state-owned enterprises have to fire a large number of their employees. On the other hand, with the rapid development of science and technology, mechanical automaton is more and more widely used in the modem production. But the popalation of our country, keeps increasing at the same time. Many people want jobs while factories need fewer workers. Unfortunately, it seems that the contradiction will last for a long period of time.
It’s quite necessary to solve this problem, because it will strongly influence the development of our society. From my point of view, we shouldn’t only stay at home and wait for a chance. As long as you have a strong will, you are sure to get success.
