一、接打电话问候
1. 打电话人接通电话后可说:Hello ! 接着说:This is sb.speaking./Could(May)I speak to sb.?/Is sb.in? 接电话人可说:Hello!Good morning/afternoon/ evening.紧接着 将自己的电话号码或姓名告诉对方。如:
(This is ) 3531968./This is Jim speaking. 

2. 问对方是谁, 应说:Who's that speaking(calling)?/May I have y our name? /Is that sb. (speaking)? 

3.代人接电话,最好说:What name shall I give?/Who shall Isay is calling? 若要离开去叫人, 须跟对方说:Hold the line,please.I'll get him/her to phone.(别挂断,我就去找他(她)听电话。 )或Hold on for a moment.(请等一会儿。)反之, 若电话要找的人在身边,代接电话的人可说:It's for you.或For you. (你的电话。) 

4. 如果打电话要找的人不在, 代接电话的人可说:Sorry,he/she isn't in.或I'm afraid he/she is o ut.(他/她不在。)如果问对方是否要留话,说:May I take a message for you? /Can Itake a messag e?/Would you like to leave a
message? 
    打电话者若要拜托接电话人转告要找的人某事时, 可问:Couldyou take a message for me?/Please tell him (her)that(sth.)……./Tell him(her)I called./Will you please tell him (her)to call me back later? 

 5.若对方打错电话,接电话者可说:Sorry,you've dialed the wrong number. 打电话人发现拔错号码, 应说:Sorry,I've dialed the wrong number. 

 6.若电话的线路忙或有问题,可说:The line is busy. (占线。)The line is dead.(断线。)
二、电话对答 
情况 (一) 打电话的人找的是你自己 
对方:Is David there? David 在吗? 
你可以回答:Speaking. 我就是。 
This is he. 我就是。 (注: 女的用 "This is she.") 
You're speaking/talking to him. 你正在跟他说话。 
(注: 女的用 "You're speaking/talking to her.") 
This is David. 我就是 David。 
That's me. 我就是。 

情况 (二) 打电话的人要找的人不在 
对方:May I speak to Mr. Liu? 请问 Gates 先生在吗? 
你可以回答: He's not here right now. 他现在不在这里。 
He's out. 他出去了。 
He's in a meeting right now. 他现在正在开会。 
You've just missed him. 你刚好错过他了。 
He's just stepped out. 他刚好出去了。 

情况 (三) 打电话的人要找的人不在, 问对方是否要留言 
对方:Can I talk to David? 我可以跟David讲话吗? 
你可以回答: 
He's out on his lunch break right now. Would you like to leave a message? 他出去吃午饭了, 你要留言吗? 
He's not available right now. Can I take a message? 他不在, 我可以帮你传话吗? 

情况 (四) 打电话的人问他要找的人何时回来 
对方:Do you know when he will be back? 你知道他什么时候会回来吗? 
你可以回答: 
I'm sorry. I don't know. 抱歉, 我不知道。 
I have no idea. 我不知道。 
He should be back in 20 minutes. 他应该二十分钟内会回来。 

情况 (五) 打电话的人问他要找的人在哪里 
对方:Do you have any idea where he is? 你知道他在哪里吗? 
你可以回答: 
Sorry. I don't know. 抱歉, 我不知道。 
He's at work right now. Do you want his phone number? 他现在在上班。你要不要他的电话号码? 
情况 (六) 打电话的人要找的人不在, 愿意接受对方的留言 
对方:Can I leave a message? 我可以留个话吗? 
你可以回答: 
Yes. Go ahead, please. 可以, 请继续。 
Of course. Hold on for just a second so I can grab a pen and paper. 当然, 稍等一下让我拿个纸笔。 
情况 (七) 接受对方留言时听不清楚, 希望对方重复 
对方:When he comes back, can you have him call me at (206) 5551212? 他回来后, 能不能让他打 (206) 5551212 这个号码给我? 
你可以回答: 
Can you repeat again, please? 能不能请你再重复一次? 
(Say) Again, please? 再说一次好吗? 
Pardon? 抱歉。(请再说一次) 
情况 (八) 对方希望留话, 怕听错了, 不想接受对方的留言 
对方:May I leave a message? 我能否留个话? 
你可以回答: 
You know what? My English is not that great, and I don't want to miss anything. Would you mind calling back later? I'm sorry. 你知道吗? 我的英文不是非常好, 我不想听错话。你介意稍后再打来吗? 我很抱歉。 

第一部分
自己不会说英语时的应急电话用语:不擅长说英语的人接到英语电话时,千万不要手足无措,可用下述几种方式沉着应答。
(1) 请稍待片刻。
Just a moment, please.
(2) 请别挂断。我找一位会说英语的人来。
Hold the line, please. I’ll get an English speaker.
(3) 请等一下。我找个人来听。
Hold on, please. I’ll get someone to the phone.
(4) 很抱歉,我英语说得不好。我找位会讲英语的人稍后回电话给你。请教您的大名及电话号码?
I’m sorry, I don’t speak English well. I’ll have an English speaker call you back later. May I have your name and telephone number?
第二部分
接电话的开场白:拿起话筒的时候,可先用Hello. Good morning. Good afternoon. 等问候对方,并报上自己的公司名、部门名、姓名等,如此可予人态度亲切的感觉。
(1) 早安。这里是正泰贸易公司。我能效劳吗?
Good morning. This is Chengtai Trading Company. May I help you?
(2) 午安。这里是大安商业银行。我能为您效劳吗?
Good afternoon. This is Dan An Commercial Bank. What can I do for you?
(3) 先锋电子。我是吴玛莉。
Pioneer Electronics. This is Mary Wu speaking.
(4) 喂。海外营业部。我是王大明。
Hello. Overseas Sales Department. Taming Wang speaking.
(5) 喂。这里是王公馆。

第三部分
问对方要找谁: 通常对方都会主动说出要找谁,但万一对方说不清楚,或是你没听懂,想再确认的时候,可以用下面的话问清楚。
(1) 请问找哪位?
Who do you want to talk [speak] to?
(2) 您找哪位?
Who would you like to speak with?
(3) 请问受话人的尊姓大名?
The name of the person you are calling, please?
(4) 你要打给哪位?

第四部分
请教对方的大名:在接听老外打来的电话,应问清楚对方的身分,以便通报相关的当事人或做进一步的处理。

不明了对方所言时:听不懂对方的话却硬撑下去,并非明智之举,不如坦白请对方更简单明确的说明清楚。
(1) 能说得明确一点吗?
Could you put that in more specific terms?
(2) 我无法确定你的意思。
I’m not sure what you mean.
(3) 很抱歉。我没听懂你的话。
I’m sorry. I couldn’t follow you.
(4) 你讲得太快了。我跟不上。

各种附和、质疑、同意、否定的用语:通话当中需借助各种或表附和,或表惊讶,或表欣喜,或表婉惜,或表疑问,或表否定的短语,以利谈话的顺利推展。
1、表惊讶
(1) 真的呀? Really?
(2) 什么? What?
(3) 别开玩笑! You’re kidding!
2、表欣喜
(1) 好极了! Great!
(2) 太棒了! Fantastic!
(3) 棒极了! Terrific!
(4) 哇! Wow!
3、表婉惜
(1) 真糟糕。 That’s too bad.
(2) 真可惜! What a shame!
(3) 听到这样我很难过。 I’m sorry to hear that.

5、表同意

第七部分
通话将毕时的结尾语:通话接近尾声,经常要来上几句客套话,以作为道别的前奏曲。请灵活应用下列各句,免得该收场时却不知如何下手。
