在寒冷的西伯利亚的丛林深处，有一个叫丁不的地方。
在这里住着一只穿白色衬衫的猪。它是两年前从遥远的东东国搬来的。当时这里除了树木，小河之外什么都没有。穿白色衬衫的猪很高兴：“这里真好，安静极了！就是这里吧！”它心想。也是猪就住了下来并且把这里叫丁不。
开始的时候，猪并不知道，在这里住的还有一只四角兽。当然这名字是穿白色衬衫的猪给起的，因为人家是有名字的，叫乓乓，它是四年前来这里的。
乓乓就住在猪的房子的后面的一丛高高大大的灌木中，灰白相间的木房子，很漂亮。这都是猪在寻找胡萝卜的时候不经意发现的。
那天天气不好，大概是下午，总是有灰灰的云遮着太阳的脸。猪去房子后面捡它的胡萝卜，一根，两根，三根，它忽然看见灌木丛后有一只烟囱在冒烟，就拨开灌木走上去敲门：
“喂，里面有人吗？有人在吗？”
过了好一会儿门才看，出现在它面前的是一个头上长了四只角的家伙，猪吓了一跳：
“你是谁？我怎么从来没有见过你？你从哪里来？”
“我叫乓乓，四年前从东东国来的。”那个奇怪的家伙说。
“真的？！你也是……我也是从那里来的！”猪兴奋的说。
“进来吧，我们一起吃蛋糕。”
“好啊，好啊！”
那蛋糕又大又香。
乓乓说它是用胡萝卜做的。
这以后，穿白色衬衫的猪就常常去乓乓的小房子，它们就这样差不多成了好朋友。至少猪是这么认为的，至少。
一年冬天，在一个阳光明媚的下午，穿白色衬衫的猪和乓乓躺在小屋的木头床上，手枕在脑后，望着窗外吃草的绵羊。
它们说了一些古怪的话。
“你给我做那种蛋糕吃吧。”
“嗯，不过没有水了，你得帮我去河边提些水回来。”
“好吧。”
穿白色衬衫的猪提着木水桶来到河边。冬天的小河已经封冻了，它只好取来一把锯，在河面上锯了一个圆洞，把木桶伸进冰窟窿，提了一桶水上来。
“哎啊！救命啊——救命————”
水桶里有人大喊。
猪忙向桶中看，原来是一条灰色的草鱼。
“你是谁？怎么会在我的桶里？“
“你这个人可真不讲道理，我正在吃晚饭，就不知道为什么被你提了上来！”
“对不起，对不起……”猪连连向灰鱼道歉。“那么你到底是什么人？”
“我是一条草鱼，是从冰海来这里过冬的。”
“哦——那么你一定走过好多地方了？”
“是的。”
“啊——真好啊！”猪一脸羡慕的表情望着西边的太阳。
“那你会一直在这里吗？”
“嗯，不是，在这里呆到春天，春天就回去。”
“哦。好吧，现在我要回去了，我是出来提水的。认识你真好，明天我还能来吗？你可以给我讲讲你遇到过的有趣的事情吗？”
“好啊！认识我也很高兴，明天见！”
“对了，你去我们那里吃蛋糕吧！”
“不了，不了，谢谢，我可是不能离开水的！”
“嗯，好吧，那明天见！”
穿白色衬衫的猪边挥手边走回了乓乓的小屋。
“你怎么走了这么长的时间？”
“河里的冰好厚啊。”
“哦，这样。”
在乓乓和猪吃着香喷喷的蛋糕的时候它们不知不觉地说到了胡萝卜。
“你说它要是长在树上该多好啊！”猪说。
“为什么？”
“这样它至少不会那么脏了，也不用回来那么费力的洗了，都把我累坏了！”
“没办法啊。要是那样的话它就不能叫胡萝卜了啊。”乓乓微笑着。它笑的时候很好看。
“嗯，倒也是。”猪边点头边吃着。
有的时候，不知道为什么，乓乓说的话都叫猪很感动，可是当猪感到愉快或者是温暖的时候，它的舌头和手就不好使，好象是被什么东西锁住了一样，它总是不能表达内心的思想。每到这时候，猪都很沮丧。
它离开了乓乓的小房子想回自己的家。
猪走在路上，它看见了夕阳。
“再见了，太阳。”猪小声说着。
看来它要好好想一想了。
第二天，当太阳照进小屋的时候猪便起了床。今天的天气好极了，阳光让人觉得痒痒的。猪决定去找灰鱼。
猪来到河边，敲着冰面上的洞，它不知道灰鱼是否还在。
“喂——你还在吗？”
“哦，在的，在的，我还在，你来得可真早！我才刚起床。”
“是啊。对了，你走过那么多的地方，你知道哪里能够最早看见日出吗？”
“我想大概是卡主峡谷吧，为什么问这样的问题？”
“因为我是想看看太阳刚起床的时候是什么样子的。”
“那就差不多是那里了，卡主峡。卡主峡，知道吗？我来来回回都经过那里的，那儿的水都是绿色的呐！还是暖和的！可真是好极了！”
“嗯，乓乓也这么说过。”猪说。
“哎，对了，小猪，你知道西西度丛林吗？”灰草鱼问。
“知道的，怎么了？”
“前几天我在路过那里的时候遇见了一只大蘑菇，它还和我说要去丁不，我还不知道丁不在哪儿呐当时。你见过这里来过一只蘑菇吗？”
“没有，我不知道这里搬来过什么蘑菇啊，不过我可以去找找看。”不知道为什么猪非常想见到这只蘑菇。“现在我就去找，明天我再来找你玩，再见了，明天见！”
“好的，明天见。”
猪开始寻找大蘑菇，可是去哪儿找呐？它并没有发现最近有什么人搬来这里。
“蘑菇，蘑菇，蘑菇……在哪儿啊你？”穿白色衬衫的猪走得很慢，它东找西找，矮草丛中，小灌木里……
到处都找了就是没有找到。“能在那里呐？它真的来了吗？…………会不会在那个洞里？对了！还是去那里看看吧！”猪说的那个洞就在雨雨山的脚边，洞口有条小溪。穿白色衬衫的猪走进冻，一股暖气扑面而来——这个洞是冬暖夏凉的。
扑嗵——“哎呦——————”走着走着猪不知道被什么绊了一下，重重的摔了一跤。“这是怎么回事啊？”
猪坐在地上边揉着胳膊边向周围看着。它很惊奇地发现了一只大蘑菇，一只头上有两个黑圈的大蘑菇！！
“是从西西度丛林来的哪？”猪忘了疼友善地微笑着说。
“嗯？你怎么知道？”
“灰草鱼，灰草鱼说的。你知道它吧？”
“哼！知道！那个傻瓜！我不喜欢它，讨厌死它了！”
“为什么啊？我看它挺好的。”
“那是你，我可不这么想，反正我讨厌它！”
“不说它了我们。”猪微笑。
猪就和蘑菇在洞里说话。大蘑菇告诉猪，它是因为连自己都不知道的什么原因才从家里跑出来的，猪就说这是很简单的事情，就像坐翘翘板一样，不过总是不太好。大蘑菇说它得给自己一些时间，想想应该去哪儿，猪说那就好好想想吧。
在猪认识了乓乓，灰草鱼和大蘑菇之后的很长一段时间里，穿白色衬衫的猪都是每天很早就到灰草鱼那里听它讲卡主峡谷的太阳的家乡的故事，在那些时间里，猪很少去找乓乓也很少去找大蘑菇，因为它实在是太向往卡主峡了。这些都是随着夏天的到来，灰草鱼的离开才慢慢清楚起来的。
后来，猪就听说了乓乓过段时间就会离开丁不，大蘑菇也许会留下来的消息。穿白色衬衫的猪没有去问乓乓也没有去问蘑菇这些是不是真的。
这一天，太阳快要下山的时候，猪想起了每次和乓乓爬到房顶看日落的情景。于是它沿着门右边的梯子爬上了房子，坐在烟囱旁边，身边放着那本它们常在一起还没有读完的书，它是想今天把剩下的部分读完。
装载太阳的车子越走越远了。“太阳又要回家睡觉了。原来日落也是这么遥不可及的。”猪没有像平时一样马上下去，它想坐在那里把书读完。
它打开书读了起来。
时间慢慢走着，渐渐的，猪发现原来映在书上的桔红色夕阳的余晖不知道什么时候变成了一种银色的，冷冷的光。于是它抬头向天空中张望着。终于在东方的天上发现了一个和太阳一样圆，只是看上去冰凉凉的东西挂在那摇晃着。
“哎————天上的，你是谁？”
“我叫月亮。”那东西回答说。
“哦，月亮。”猪若有所思地重复着，“那么好吧，月亮，你好！你是从什么地方来的？”
“我是从优优谷来的，已经走了一天了。”
“你要去哪儿？”
“前面。”
“前面？前面是什么地方？”
“我也不知道。”
“不知道？不知道你为什么还要去？”
“是的。我也不知道这里是什么地方，可是我还是来了。”
“这里是丁不，现在就是我一个人，其实原来还有…………”猪说到这里很难过，它说不下去了。
月亮似乎并没有察觉。
猪揉了揉眼睛又抬头问：
“那——你为什么还要到这里来？”
“这是我的工作。”
“什么？工作？什么工作？”猪不解地问。
“因为在晚上，太阳在家里休息，我是来代替它的，这样晚上也是亮的了。”
“那太好了！你会一直呆在这里吗？”猪问。
“是的，一直，一直呆到明天太阳出来的时候。”月亮回答。
“那我就可以坐在这里看书了，这里真亮！”
“是啊是啊。”月亮笑着。
它笑起来可真有意思，弯弯的。猪心里想。
猪又重新拿起书读了起来。月亮也在天上向下看着穿白色衬衫的猪。
“哗啦——哗啦————”书一页一页地翻过去，猪看得很专心。忽然间它觉得好象有什么东西落在它的胳膊上，猪放下书转过头来看，原来是水。“要下雨了吗？我还是回去看吧。”这样想着，猪就顺着梯子爬了下来。它想和月亮打个招呼，可是抬头一看，月亮不知道什么时候藏到了云后面，只留下头顶的一角。“它是不是也去睡觉了？”
猪回到了自己的房子，脱去了白色的衬衫，点上了一支蜡烛坐在木桌子前读着剩下的最后几页：“沉重的云块掩盖了天空，月亮完全没有露面。我呆在我的小房间里感到更寂寞了；我抬头凝视着他平时出现的那块天空。我的思想飞得很远，飞向我的这位最好的朋友那。他每天晚上都给我讲一些美丽的故事。是的，他经历过的事情可真多！他在太古时代的洪水上航行过，他对挪亚的独木舟微笑过，正如他最近来看我，给我带来的一些安慰，期许给我一个灿烂的世界一样。当以色列的孩子们坐在巴比伦河边哭泣的时候，他在悬着竖琴的杨柳树之间悲哀得望着他们。当罗密欧走上阳台、他神情的吻像小天使的翅膀从地上升起来的时候，这圆圆的月亮，正在明静的天空上，半隐在犹豫的古柏中间。他看见被囚禁的圣赫勒拿岛上的英雄，这时他正在一个孤独的石崖上望着大海，他心中升起了许多辽远的思想。啊！月亮有什么事情不知道呐？对他来说，人类的生活是一个童话。
今晚我不能看见你了，老朋友！我迷糊得向云眺望，天上又露出了一点亮光，这是月亮的光，但是它马上又会消逝了。乌黑的云又要飘过来，然而这总算是一声问候，一声月亮所带给我的、友爱的晚安。”
“啊！天啊！原来月亮走过这么多的地方啊！这是真的吗？那么外面的那个月亮也是这样的吗？”
于是猪从窗子把头伸出去仰头看天空，月亮又出来了。
“月亮！月亮！你真的走过那么多地方吗？”
“嗯，是的。”
“你可真是了不起！”猪说。“我累了，我想睡觉了，月亮，晚安！”
“晚安。”
“我醒了还会看见你吗？”
“大概不会了。”
“为什么？”
“因为白天太阳就会上班了。”
“那晚上呐？”
“也许吧。”
“……那好吧，月亮，晚安。”
“嗯，晚安。”
于是猪熄灭蜡烛睡了。
猪做了一个梦，梦见它和乓乓，灰草鱼，蘑菇，月亮在一起，围着一堆火唱歌，它高兴极了。
事实上，穿白色衬衫的猪不知道，刚才落在它胳膊上的东西并不是水，而是月亮的眼泪。

The first little pig builds a house of straw, but a wolf blows it down and eats the pig. The encounter between wolf and pig features ringing proverbial phrases:
One day the big bad wolf came and knocked on the first little pig's door and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me come in." And the little pig answered, "No, no, I won't let you come in, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin." "Well," said the wolf, "then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in." So he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down and ate the little pig.
The second pig builds a house of sticks, has the same conversation with the wolf, and meets the same fate.
The third pig builds a house of brick. The wolf cannot huff and puff hard enough to blow the house down. He attempts to trick the third little pig out of his house, but the pig outsmarts him at every turn. Finally, the wolf threatens to come down the chimney, whereupon the third little pig boils a pot of water into which the wolf plunges. The little pig cooks the wolf and eats him
