lot 和lots区别
一、词性不同
1、lot可以用作名词、副词、动词外，还可以用作代词。
（1）名词： 份额；许多；命运；阄。
（2）副词：（与形容词和副词连用）很，非常；（与动词连用）非常。
（3）代词：大量，许多。
（4）动词：分组，把…划分（常与out连用）；把（土地）划分成块；抽签，拈阄。
2、lots可以用作名词、副词、动词。
（1）名词：大量，许多；一堆；命运（lot的复数）
（2）副词： 很，非常
（3）动词：抽签；分组；把（土地）划分成块（lot的第三人称单数形式）。
二、构成固定短语不同
1、lot 构成短语有a lot 和a lot of ，表示很多，通常用于肯定句中，否定句则需要用many或much。a lot of 后接名词，可以修饰可数名词、不可数名词，表示大量。如：
A lot of our land is used to grow crops for export.
我们的土地大多用来种植出口农作物。
I learned a lot from him about how to run a band.（a lot用作代词）
我从他那里学了很多管理乐队的知识。
Matthew's out quite a lot doing his research.（a lot用作副词）
马修经常出去做研究。
2、lots 构成固定短语形式为lots of，用法同a lot of，可以修饰可数名词，不可数名词。意思是许多、大量。如:
There are lots of pear trees near the house.
屋子近旁种着许多梨树。
三、a lot与lots的区别在于lots通常用于口语，a lot 用于书面语。
（一）a lot用作书面语，可以用作形容词短语、副词短语、名词短语。
1、a lot 可用作名词短语。表示大量、很多。可用作主语、宾语、表语等，如：
A lot hangs on this decision. （用作主语）
很多事情都取决于这一决定。
Sophia must have been through a lot.（用作介词宾语）
索菲娅一定受过很多苦。
I have learned a lot from him since I have known him.（用作动词宾语）

Two hundred pounds is a lot to spend on a dress.用作表语

2、a lot用作副词短语，与动词连用，意思是非常 。用作状语。一是用于修饰比较级，二是用于修饰动词。如：
It's a lot colder today than it was yesterday.（修饰比较级，相当于much，意为“……得多”。）
今天比昨天冷得多。
He has helped me a lot. （修饰动词，一是表示程度，意为“很”“很多”“非常”等；二是表示频率，意为“经常”。）
他给予了我很大的帮助。
（二）lots在口语中，有时可用代替a lot。如：
She loves him lots.
她非常爱他。
I eat lots less than I used to.
我吃得比从前少得多。

a lot的用法
a lot是口语中的一个常用词组，多用于肯定句，有时也用于疑问句。其主要用法有如下几点：

Sometimes we have very little snow, but sometimes there’s a lot.

二、作副词短语，在句中作程度状语，表示“很；非常；常常”，修饰动词、感叹词、介词短语、形容词或副词的比较级，如：
It usually rains a lot/much at this time of year.
每年这个时候都经常下雨。（修饰动词rain）
Do you wear your new watch a lot?
你常戴你的新手表吗？（修饰动词wear）
Thanks a lot/very much ---that’s very kind.
多谢，十分感激。（修饰感叹词thanks，thanks=thank you）
He is feeling a lot/much better.
他感觉好多了。（修饰比较级better）
Your room is a lot bigger than mine.
你的房间比我的大得多。（修饰比较级bigger）
三、a lot前可被such，what，quite，rather修饰，如：
I like him quite a lot. 我非常喜欢他。
---How much money is left?
---还剩下多少钱？
---Rather a lot.
---还有相当多。
四、a lot of = lots of,可修饰可数或不可数名词，意为“许多”， “大量的”，相当于many或much。a lot, a lot of, lots of通常用于肯定句，否定句中一般用many或much，如：
There’s a lot of work to do and a lot of people have been sent there.
有许多事情要做，许多人已派去那里了。
五、用于固定搭配构成习语。
have a lot to answer for为糟糕的情况负责
Jerry’s got a lot to answer for. If it weren’t for him, Ann would never have left Denver.
杰里要为这一后果负责。如果不是为了他，安永远也不会离开丹佛（美国科罗拉多州）。
have a lot on your plate有很多困难的工作要处理
Leave Mum alone-she’s got a lot on her plate at the moment.

I can’t take a holiday at the moment; I’ve got a lot/far too much on my plate.
