In Christianity, Christmas is the festival celebrating the Nativity of Jesus, the Christian belief that the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament's Messianic prophecies was born to the VirginMary.

Jesus' birth is a story. In it, He is believed to be born of the holy spirit, born to the virgin Mary. God sent a message to Joseph in a dream that he shouldn't worry because of Mary's unmarried pregnancy because the meaning of boy named "Jesus" was that he would rescue the people from sin.
When Mary was giving birth, the Roman government gave a command that all the people of Bethlehem must declare the people in their families. Joseph and Mary had to obey.
When they reached Bethlehem, it was already dark and they failed to find any accommodation except for a place where horses and other animals were resting. This was the place where Jesus would be born! Mary gave birth to Jesus in this manger. Later generations commemorate the birt

History of Christmas.
Christmas is the biggest holiday in the Christian world. At the beginning of the 4th century, January 6 was the double festival of the birth and baptism of Jinianyesu, the church in the eastern part of the Roman Empire. It was called the "Epiphany .
Festival"(also known as the "Show Festival"), that is, God showed himself to the world through Jesus. At that time, there was only the church in Jerusalem, where only Jinianyesu was born and not Jinianyesu was baptized. Later historians found in the calendar used by Roman Christians that on December 25, 354 AD, it was recorded: "Christ was born in Bethlehem, Judah. "
After research, it is generally believed that December 25 is Christmas and may have begun in the Roman Church of 336 AD. It was spread to Antioch in Asia Minor in about 375 AD, and to Alexandria in Egypt in 430 AD. The church in Jerusalem received the latest, The Armenian church still insists that the Epiphany on January 6 is the birthday of Jesus.
December 25th turned out to be the birthday of the Persian sun god(the god of light) Mithra, a pagan festival, and the sun God is also one of the gods of the Roman state religion. This day is also the winter solstice of the Roman almanac.
The pagans who worship the sun god regard this day as the hope of spring and the beginning of the recovery of all things. It may be for this reason that the Roman Church chose this day as Christmas. This is one of the measures that the church tried to Christianize the pagan customs in the early days.
Later, although most churches accepted December 25 as Christmas, they also fixed that the almanacs used by churches around the country were different. The specific dates could not be unified, so they set December 24 to January 6 of the second year as Christmas.
Festival period, Local churches can celebrate Christmas during this season according to local conditions. Since December 25 was recognized by most churches as Christmas, the original Jinianyesu on January 6 was only baptized, but the Catholic Church also designated January 6 as the "Three Kings to the DPRK Festival." To commemorate the story of the three kings of the East(ie, three doctors) who came to worship when Jesus was born.
With the spread of Christianity, Christmas has become an important festival for Christians of all denominations and even for the masses of non-Christians. In many countries in Europe and the United States, people attach great importance to this festival and connect it with the New Year.
The celebration is much more lively and important than the New Year and becomes a national holiday. The main commemorative activities on December 25 are related to the legend of the birth of Jesus. From December 24 on January 6 of the following year, it is the Christmas Festival.
During the festival, Christians in all countries hold a grand memorial ceremony. Christmas was originally a Christian holiday. Because people attached great importance to it, it became a national holiday. It was the greatest festival of the year in Western countries. It can be compared with the New Year, similar to the Chinese New Year.
Westerners use red, green, and white colors as Christmas colors. When Christmas comes, every household must use Christmas colors to decorate. The red ones have Christmas flowers and Christmas candles.
The green one is the Christmas tree. It is the main decoration of Christmas. It is decorated with wooded evergreen trees such as fir and cypress, with colorful lights, gifts and paper flowers, and lit Christmas candles. Red and white meet Santa Claus, the most popular figure at Christmas events.
Western children put a sock in front of a fireplace or pillow before going to sleep on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa to put a gift in the sock after they fall asleep. In the West, it is also a custom to play Santa Claus.

The name Christmas is short for "Christ's Mass". A Mass is a kind of Church service.
Christmas is a religious festival. It is the day we celebrate as the birthday of Jesus.
There are special Christmas services in Christian churches all over the world. But many of the festivities of Christmas do not have anything to do with religion. Exchanging gifts and sending Christmas cards are the modern ways of celebrating the Christmas in the orld. The birth of Jesus had a story: In Nazareth, a city of Galilee. The virgin's name was Mary was betrothed to Joseph. Before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband was minded to put her away secretly. While he thought about these things, Gabriel, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and told him did not be afraid to take Mary as wife. And Mary will bring forth a Son, and he shall call his name, Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
Before Jesus births, Joseph and Mary came to Quintus was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up out of Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and of the lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And that, Christmas is the feast of the nativity of Jesus, is on 25th, December every year. But nobody know the actual birthday of Jesus. And the Christmas has become popular when Christmas cards appeared in 1846 and the concept of a jolly Santa Claus was first made popular in nineteenth Century.

It is said about the sixteenth century, the Germans among the first to the evergreen pine and cypress branches to get in the house to display and later, Germany missionaries Martin Luther candle on the fir tree in the woods, and then lit so that It seems to be a guide to the people of the Star of Bethlehem, as the pre-2000 Eastern Dr. accordance with the three stars in the sky to find Jesus in general. Christmas or Christmas Day is a holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus, the central figure of Christianity. It is traditionally celebrated on December 25 by most Western Christian churches. Although dating to probably as early as a.d. 200, the feast of Christmas did not become widespread until the Middle Ages. Aspects of celebration may include gift-giving, Christmas trees, display of Nativity sets, church attendance, the Father Christmas/Santa Claus myth, and family gatherings. The word Christmas is derived from Middle English Christemasse. It is a contraction meaning "Christ's mass". The name of the holiday is often shortened to Xmas because Roman letter "X" resembles the Greek letter X, an abbreviation for Christ.
