We all like to make friends, because no one can survive without a friend. If you ask someone how many friends do they have, most will answer a lot. Indeed, we make friends in different stage, even we are old, we still make friends. But not all friends are as honest as they are, some friends we made since we are young, some are just meet a couple of times and we don’t know much about them. The former are real friends, while the latter are not true friends. What is the real friend, a real friend is someone who you can talk about anything and can be show up the moment you need. Other friends are just for drinking and eating, they will not help you if you are in trouble. When we make friends, the real one is what we need.
我们喜欢交朋友，因为没有人可以离开朋友而活着。如果你问人他们有多少朋友，大部分会说很多。确实，我们在不同的阶段交朋友，即使上了年纪，仍然在交朋友。但是并不是所有的朋友都那么诚实，一些朋友是我们小时候交的，一些是只见过几次的，我们并不了解。前者是真正的朋友，后者是却不是。什么是真正的朋友，真正的朋友是你可以和他谈任何事，只有你有需要，他都会出现。其他一些只是酒肉朋友，他们在你困难时是不会帮你的。当我们交朋友时，我们需要交的是真正的朋友。

Acquaintances are easy to come by but true friends are a whole other story. The
best way to develop meaningful connections with true friends we can trust is to
become a true friend yourself. Apply these ten steps if you’d like to be a true
friend that can be counted on.
1. Be present for their highs and lows.

It’s easy to be there for our friends when they ask us out
for fun things like drinks at the bar, dancing in the club, or laughs at the
theater. But are you willing to be there for the hard times that are the
opposite of fun? You might not feel comfortable while spending time with an
emotionally fragile person on the verge of tears, but true friends are readily
available when they’re needed the most.
2. Know when to hush.
“When people talk, listen completely. Most people never
listen.” ——Ernest Hemingway
The act of vocally expressing our troubles to a trusted
friend can offer instant stress-reduction. Give your friend the gift of silence
so they can drop their baggage and get on with living.
Everyone needs friends. A friend can give us help and share our difficulties and happiness. But how can we make friends?
First, to make friends, you must be friendly to others. Smile at others and you are sure to get a smile in return. You should try to make a stranger feel at home wherever he happens to be. Think more of others than of yourself and never judge a person by his appearance and clothes.
Second, friends should negotiate instead of quarrel. When you don't agree someone, please discuwith him.
Finally, never believe in those who leave you when you are in trouble. And never leave your friend when he is in trouble. Remember, a friend in need is a friend indeed.
