打倒男孩主唱帕特里克·斯特普受到了前苏联作曲家肖斯塔科维奇的启发。当欣赏肖斯塔科维奇的《第7号交响曲·第四部分》时，帕特里克·斯特普的思维被打开，于是斯特普准备创作该首歌曲。
