一、含义不同
already
adv. 已经。
yet
adv. 还；仍然；conj. 然而；但是。
二、用法不同
already
already的意思是“较早地”“提前”,可表示“比预想发生的时间早”,也可表示“比可能发生的时间早”，含有“想不到某事竟然已经发生了”或“以为某事会晚一些发生”的意味。
already一般用于肯定句中。与动词搭配时，静态动词多用一般式，动态动词多用完成时。表示与现在时间相比而已经做过的事，即by this time，须用现在完成时；表示与过去时间相比而已经做过的事，即by that time,用过去完成时或过去进行时。already不用于一般将来时。

yet
yet用于否定句和疑问句中及用于表示怀疑的动词之后，意思是“还，尚，仍然，直至现在”,在英式英语中通常用于现在或过去完成时，在美式英语中通常用于一般过去时。
yet用于疑问句中，还可作“已经”“还”“仍然”解，通常放在句末。
yet用作连词的意思是“然而，但是”，往往含有“尽管如此，但…”之意，连接意思相反的分句。

三、侧重点不同
already
already多用于肯定句。already有时也可用于疑问句中表示惊讶、怀疑,或者表示期望〔预计〕有一个肯定的回答。
yet
yet多用于疑问句或否定句。yet有时也可用于肯定句中，意思与still相同(仍然，还；迟早)，而与already不同。
