汇入行收到电报或电传后，即核对密押是不是相符，若不符，应立即拟电文向汇出行查询。若相符，即缮制电汇通知书，通知收款人取款。收款人持通知书一式两联向汇入行取款，并在收款人收据上签章后，汇入行即凭以解付汇款。
实务中，如果收款人在汇入行开有帐户，汇入行往往不缮制汇款通知书，仅凭电文将款项收入收款人收户，然后给收款人一收帐通知单，也不需要收款人签具收据。最后，汇入行将付讫借记通知书（Debit Advice）寄给汇出行。
电汇中的电报费用由汇款人承担，银行对电汇业务一般均当天处理，不占用邮递过程的汇款资金，所以，对于金额较大的汇款或通过SWIFT或银行间的汇划，多采用电汇方式。
